An agent can produce a good answer while leaving the next agent without what it needs. The failure often sits in the handoff: an overly broad summary, an unexplained decision or a missing source. This guide proposes a delivery structure for coordinated teams. It is a design practice, not a description of a new ConductLoop protocol.
Share the state of the work
The next agent needs to know what the task is trying to achieve, what has been done and what remains. Forwarding an entire conversation can bury those facts among discarded attempts. A useful handoff includes the current goal, the produced deliverable and relevant decisions. If the goal changed, state which version replaces the earlier one. Distinguish observed facts from proposed next steps so a suggestion does not silently become an approved decision.
Preserve sources and uncertainties
A finding should retain its origin when another task will depend on it. That might be a file path, documentation section or dated link. If sources conflict, pass along both and explain the disagreement. Explicit uncertainty is preferable to a synthesis that silently chooses one account. The point of a handoff is to let the next task rely on traceable information. Sounding conclusive is not an acceptance criterion.
A minimal handoff contract
Current goal: prepare an installation guide. Deliverable: draft and list of checked steps. Sources: current README and published release notes. Decisions: limit the guide to macOS on Apple Silicon. Unresolved: one screenshot still needs confirmation. Next step: review clarity and identify unsupported claims.
This format fits in a note and removes reliance on implicit memory. Add an owner or task reference when that information has a concrete purpose in the workflow.
What MCP provides
MCP standardizes connections between AI applications, tools and context sources. Its architecture uses hosts, clients and servers, described in the official MCP architecture documentation. A connection protocol does not by itself establish who makes decisions in your project or when a deliverable is acceptable. Your brief, role responsibilities and handoff contract still need a coherent design.
Resolve conflicts without erasing history
When a reviewer finds an error, return the affected passage, reasoning and proposed correction. In a hierarchy, the coordinator can gather those discrepancies so they are resolved at the appropriate level. Keep the revised deliverable distinct from the decision that produced the revision. A short history of significant changes is easier to consult than a long conversation without explicit state.
ConductLoop’s local foundation
ConductLoop provides local search, cited sources in Brain and MCP tools for search, recall and capture. Those components form a context foundation. CEO-led hierarchical coordination is in preparation, and this guide does not promise a built-in handoff format. You can apply the proposed structure to project notes today and use it to decide which information should circulate between the future roles in your team.
